Nede’HY hydrogen project, with Haffner Energy’s technology, selected as a laureate by France’s development agency

09/30/2024

The project for green hydrogen production and distribution in France is carried by an industrial consortium led by the Nedey Automobiles Group (GNA) and which includes Haffner Energy. It was just named a laureate of the call for projects by France’s development agency ADEME.

The project is to be developed in the Technoland business park in Montbéliard in the east of France. It was first revealed to the public last year when it was submitted to ADEME for consideration.

Haffner Energy’s process, HYNOCA®, was selected for the project. It will produce 240 tonnes per year of hydrogen and around 1,000 tonnes per year of biochar. The hydrogen produced by these modules will be used by local industries and by the municipal Pays de Montbéliard Agglomération (PMA) transport network. Being selected as one of the few winners of ADEME’s EcosysH2 call for projects is a decisive step towards making the project a reality.

Haffner Energy is pleased with the progress of this project, which features the technical, environmental and economic relevance of its biomass thermolysis technology. The latter is an especially good fit for the development of ambitious decarbonization projects in industry and mobility, for the benefit of local communities.

This green hydrogen production and distribution project is intended to be replicated in various locations, with biomass always sourced locally, sustainably, and without any conflict of use. For example, biomass for this project will be supplied by the Corbat group, with which Haffner Energy is also developing a similar project in the Swiss Jura area. Both projects will be able to benefit from synergies.
