A European Industrial Solution for soverreign AI – Rooted in France’s Grand Est
by Marcella Franchi, Chief Commercial Officer
A major milestone for Aether Infrastructure in Strasbourg — and an important one for Haffner Energy, as part of this ambitious French and European industrial ecosystem.
With the signing of the preliminary sale agreement for the FR-SXB2 site at the Port du Rhin, Aether Infrastructure is moving from vision to execution: around 90 hectares, 110,000 m² of existing industrial buildings, an AI Factory, server manufacturing, cloud infrastructure and locally produced energy brought together on one site.
What I find particularly powerful is the integrated approach. AI sovereignty is not only about chips, servers or cloud capacity. It is also about having access to secure, competitive, resilient and increasingly low-carbon energy. This is where Haffner Energy can bring a very concrete contribution. Our biomass thermolysis solution can provide renewable, dispatchable electricity produced on site, 24/7, together with cooling cogeneration, while biochar could further improve the carbon balance (see 2CRSI press release dated October 12, 2026).
This is a European industrial solution, rooted in France’s Grand Est, combining digital sovereignty, energy sovereignty and decarbonisation.
A special thank you to Alain WILMOUTH, 2CRSi CEO, for the vision behind ÆTHER, to Jean-François ARGENCE, for turning that vision into reality, and to Philippe Haffner for backing this project from the outset — and, of course, to all the teams at Aether, 2CRSi and Haffner Energy helping bring it to life. Very proud to see this moving forward.
